According to eyewitness accounts, the accident happened around 9 a.m. when an unregistered payloader vehicle lost control while in motion. The heavy-duty equipment swerved from its lane into oncoming traffic before colliding with multiple vehicles. An eyewitness, John Olakunle, stated, “One pregnant woman was in the tricycle that was crushed, and she is feared dead at the moment.”
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency confirmed the payloader rammed into a Toyota Camry with license plate AAB-248 MK and a commercial tricycle with plate JGB-643 VD. The force of the impact proved fatal for the pregnant woman who was traveling in the tricycle at the time of the collision.

The agency’s spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, provided details of the casualties, noting that five people were involved in total – four adult males and one adult female. The pregnant woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the four male victims sustained various degrees of injury, including severe wounds to those in the tricycle and serious injury to the Camry driver.
Emergency response saw bystanders transporting the injured victims to various hospitals in Sagamu for immediate medical attention. The body of the deceased woman has been deposited at a morgue as authorities continue their investigation into the precise cause of the accident.
