According to a publication by Punch News on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Mrs. Edith Alum, a 65-year-old mother, has recounted the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the deaths of her two sons, Chukwudi and Onyekachi, in the Umuchigbo-Nike area of Enugu East Local Government. Fighting back tears, she insisted that her children were not casualties of a communal confrontation, but were murdered while carrying out their farm work.
Mrs. Alum explained that tension between rival groups of young men in the community escalated into violence, and in the process, her sons—who had gone to tend to the farm—were gunned down by enraged youths. She emphasized that the brothers were never part of the dispute but were unfortunate victims caught in the middle of the chaos.
She further disclosed that Chukwudi was 38 years old and Onyekachi was 31. Chukwudi, her eldest child, was already married and a father of two, while Onyekachi was her third-born. Their deaths, she said, have torn a deep wound in her family.
“My children were not involved in any communal fight,” she lamented. “They lost their lives while simply doing their work on the farm.”
Hear him speak: “It was a conflict between two warring factions of youths in our community, and my sons became victims on October 29, 2025. Their names were Chukwudi and Onyekachi Alum. They went to the farm that fateful day but were shot dead by some angry youths.” Read Original
