Former Kogi State governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Olayinka Braimoh, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Saturday in Kabba, the headquarters of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, where Braimoh declared his new political move before party supporters and community leaders.
Speaking at the event, Braimoh said his decision to join the ADC was driven by his passion to contribute meaningfully to Kogi’s development and to offer an alternative leadership path for the state.

“With the calibre of persons in the party, ADC coalition is the platform under which I believe my vision of a new Kogi state can be actualised,” he said.
He described Kogi’s leadership record as disappointing, noting that the state’s vast human and natural resources have been poorly managed over the years.
“Kogi state is below in terms of leadership performance, considering the potentials, capacities, and intellectual assets that this state possesses,” Braimoh added.
He also explained that the ADC provided a broader and more credible platform to actualize his political aspirations, urging indigenes of Kogi to unite for the state’s progress.
“It is like a case of the worst leading the rest of us, while the best of us have not had the opportunity of leading. That is the reason why we decided to join the coalition to move our state forward,” he said.
The state chairman of ADC, Kingsley Temitope Ogga, welcomed Braimoh and his supporters into the party, describing their entry as a major boost ahead of the 2027 polls.
