The Presidency’s attack on former President Goodluck Jonathan has drawn criticism from Rufai Oseni, anchor of Arise Television’s Morning Show, who says government officials ought to concentrate on insecurity rather than political conflicts.
While residents of Kwara South were escaping banditry, Oseni accused Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, of prioritizing verbal attacks against Jonathan in a post on his Facebook page on Monday.
Because of the bandits’ actions in Kwara South, people are fleeing for their lives while Mr. Onanuga is busy targeting Jonathan. Oseni wrote, “Our leaders have absolutely no empathy.”

His remarks came after Onanuga released a statement earlier Monday in response to fresh appeals for Jonathan to run for president in 2027, especially from the North.
Jonathan’s record in office was disregarded by Onanuga, who said that his administration was responsible for the current economic problems in Nigeria.
“We must not quickly forget how his rule, lacking a clear economic vision, engaged in wasteful spending, crippled the economy, and left the nation in severe straits. Jonathan essentially started the decline that President Tinubu is putting a lot of effort into reversing,” Onanuga said.
The Presidency’s comments coincide with escalating political conjecture and coalition initiatives to depose President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
