On Sunday, the Nigerian Army announced that its troops successfully rescued three victims of kidnapping in a series of operations in Kogi State.

The Army disclosed this in a statement by Hassan Abdullahi, acting assistant director of Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade.

Abdullahi stated that the troops succeeded in neutralising several bandits involved in these kidnappings and other criminal activities across the state.

According to Abdullahi, troops of Operation Egwua A Tite II carried out the operation against the bandits between September 1 and September 5.

He also noted that the troops of 126 Battalion in partnership with other hybrid forces (OHF) had earlier engaged the bandits in a fierce battle.

He said two of the bandits were killed during the operation in the Tunga general area.

In addition, the brigade command and force commander of Operation Accord III, Kasim Sidi, led a successful exploitation of the area.

The approach, Abdullahi said led to the destruction of so many camps and settlement areas occupied by the bandits.

He said that this increased the ambush and patrol activity in the area.

Also, with the help of intelligence information, the troops on September 2, supported by close air support from the 405 helicopter combat training group launched an airstrike in Ankomi.

Several fleeing bandits were killed during the operation.

On September 3, some troops conducted a clearance operation in the Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities.

This led to the rescue of one Pabo Suleiman and two of his children.

Weapons including five locally made dane guns were recovered from the bandits.

The Nigerian Army said that the litany of offences against the bandits is in line with the resolve to sanitise Kogi State and keep the state free from criminal activities.
