The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has declared that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in 2027 with overwhelming support from the North and other parts of the country.

Ata made the declaration in a statement signed by his aide, Seyi Olorunsola, on Thursday, insisting that “there is no vacancy in Aso Rock Villa” ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to the minister, recent claims suggesting that the North has turned against President Tinubu are false and politically motivated.

“In recent weeks, there has been a pernicious campaign of outright distortion, falsehood and malice, sponsored by disgruntled elements who lost out in the political machinations surrounding the last general elections,” Ata said.

“Many of these elements, particularly from the APC, PDP and Labour Party, have sought to peddle the narrative that the Northern population is opposed to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and will therefore not support his re-election bid in 2027. This claim is not only baseless—it is disrespectful to the genuine sentiments and aspirations of millions of Northerners who have benefited from the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

The minister described such insinuations as deliberate attempts to stir regional prejudice and undermine national unity.

He maintained that President Tinubu’s administration has been inclusive and has worked tirelessly to address insecurity, promote infrastructure development, and strengthen the economy.

“Despite inheriting severe security deficits, the President has engaged vigorously with the hydra-headed challenges of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and communal violence, deploying new strategies, reinforcing security frameworks, and working hard to restore confidence,” Ata stated.

He cited improvements in security and infrastructure, particularly across the North, as well as the administration’s major economic reforms.

“On the economic front, the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of exchange rates have unlocked critical fiscal space for state and local governments,” he explained. “More resources are now available for development at the grassroots.”

Highlighting ongoing federal projects, Ata listed the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano dual carriageway, the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, and the Renewed Hope Housing Programme—which currently has over 10,000 units under construction across 14 locations, including Kano—as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.

He added that the housing initiative aims to provide 100 units in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, with flexible financing options such as 6% NHF loans and rent-to-own schemes.

The Kano-born minister also disclosed that various Northern stakeholders, including religious and traditional leaders, have expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election, adding that Kano State alone will deliver two million votes for the President.

“Their support is rooted not in coercion, but in clear evaluation of policies and results on the ground,” he said. “In Kano, without any equivocation, the President is assured of over 2 million votes.”

Ata urged Northern political figures and appointees to take the message of the administration’s achievements to their constituencies.

“The President’s re-election is not a foregone conclusion—it must be earned through credible persuasion, outreach, and visible impact,” he noted.

Reaffirming his confidence in Tinubu’s continued leadership, the minister said: “I again emphasize: there is no vacancy in Aso Rock Villa in 2027. The North remains fully part of the national project, and its voice and its vote matter.”
