Known for his frank and fearless views on political matters, Nabena questioned the seriousness of the ruling party in addressing issues that could affect its chances in the coming polls.
In his assessment, Nabena raised doubts about the level of commitment within the APC, particularly among political leaders and officeholders.
He wondered why some challenges that directly affect the people have not been properly handled, stressing that the same citizens will be expected to come out and vote during the elections.

The APC chieftain drew attention to the recurring problem of the “sit-at-home” order in parts of the South-East, which continues to disrupt economic and social activities.
He questioned the lack of effective measures by state governments to end the situation, noting that such inaction could weaken voter participation in future elections.
According to Nabena, the continued obedience of residents to the sit-at-home directive shows the government’s limited influence in those areas.
He expressed worry that these same regions, which are struggling with political instability, would be expected to deliver votes for the APC in 2027.
He also raised concerns about the visible absence of political leaders’ families and children on election days.
Nabena pointed out that while the ordinary citizens are the ones who turn out to vote, many politicians’ relatives remain away from the polling units, raising questions about the sincerity of their commitment to the democratic process.
The former publicity secretary maintained that these realities should serve as a wake-up call for the APC leadership to reflect and take action.
He emphasized that ignoring these challenges could have serious consequences for the party’s future political success.
Nabena’s remarks highlight the need for stronger leadership, better grassroots engagement, and genuine efforts to resolve social and political issues that affect citizens’ trust in the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said: “Where are the children or families of the governors on the day of election? Are the Igbo youths not the ones sitting at home on Mondays? What efforts did the government put in place to solve the sit-at-home problem? Are they not the same kind of people that will come out to win the election for us in APC? People say nobody should go out on Monday and they all obey them in the states you have APC governors. Why are they deceiving us now?
