“By being a governor, I have seen what sycophancy can do. I have seen people actually sit in the presence of the President (Muhammadu Buhari to tell him, ‘Oh, you are the best ever. Nobody can do this better.’
“But the minute Buhari left government, they started saying, ‘Oh, he was one of the worst presidents we had ever seen.’ These are the same people, but in different moments. That is what sycophancy is all about.”
Governor Sule said he admired the late media mogul, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, for his courage in establishing Nigeria’s first private radio and television stations during the military era.
Sule described it as a time when “nearly everything was controlled by government.”
“We are here to celebrate an icon of media. Dokpesi was not afraid to speak truth to power, even during difficult times.”
Jonathan clarifies comment on Buhari vs Boko Haram
Recall that Goodluck Jonathan, the former president of Nigeria, clarified his statement concerning the late Buhari and the Boko Haram terrorist organisation.
Ikechukwu Eze, the spokesperson to former President Jonathan, explained the proposition of the Nigerian leader in a statement on Saturday, September 4, 2025.
Jonathan has referenced Buhari while speaking at the book launch of former CDS Lucky Irabor in Benin, the Edo state capital, on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Boko Haram mediator: Buhari’s spokesperson blasts Jonathan
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the late Buhari’s spokesperson, Malam Garba Shehu, lambasted ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Shehu said Jonathan’s claim that Boko Haram said they preferred Buhari to be their mediator with the federal government was false.
According to Shehu, Jonathan’s allegation against Buhari is a campaign to win votes for his 2027 presidential ambition.
