Former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a petition before the Police Service Commission (PSC), accusing the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police and some officers of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and serial violations of the Police Act.

In a letter dated September 8, El-Rufai urged the PSC to launch an immediate and impartial investigation into what he described as “unlawful and unconstitutional conduct” by the command.

“I am writing as a citizen of Nigeria and former governor of Kaduna State to formally lodge this complaint and demand an immediate, impartial, and exhaustive investigation into the unlawful and unconstitutional conduct of the Commissioner of Police and some officers of the Kaduna State Police Command,” part of the petition read.

El-Rufai noted that his action was motivated by a sense of civic responsibility and concern for the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that it was the duty of citizens to ensure accountability and discipline within the institution.

The former governor had on Sunday accused the police commissioner of violating constitutional provisions by summoning him and seven members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after the command allegedly blocked the party’s scheduled meeting in the state.
