The Southern Kaduna Professionals Forum (SKPF) has called on Senator Sunday Katung, representing Kaduna South, to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and seek re-election in 2027.

The forum described Katung’s performance in the National Assembly as “credible, impactful, and people-oriented”.

In a statement on Friday, Samuel Yakubu, national president of the forum, said Katung has distinguished himself through legislative interventions, constituency projects, and empowerment programmes that have touched lives across the eight local government areas of the senatorial district.

Yakubu cited the senator’s role in facilitating the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and a science laboratory at Fadan Kamanton, describing them as “landmark achievements capable of transforming Southern Kaduna’s education, healthcare, and economic landscape”.

Part of the statement read: “We are calling on Senator Katung, to dump PDP now and come 2027, to seek re-election under any political party should the PDP’s internal wrangling persist. His leadership has brought significant development to our people.”

The forum also commended Katung’s scholarship schemes for indigent students, empowerment programmes for women and youths, and rural infrastructure projects.

“These projects are not just infrastructure; they are investments in the future of our people.

“They will expand access to education and healthcare, stimulate the local economy, and create employment opportunities for youths,” the group said.

The group further stated that Katung has given Southern Kaduna a “strong and credible voice in the senate”, adding that his legislative record and constituency engagement reflect both vision and competence.

The forum urged political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community leaders to support Katung in 2027.

“Senator Katung has proven that Southern Kaduna can be ably represented with dignity, commitment, and results.

“It is in our collective interest to allow him consolidate on the foundation he has laid,” the statement concluded.
