Kanunta Kanu, the younger brother of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is organising a fundraiser to generate money for his brother’s medical and legal bills.
Kanu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), facing charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.
There have been complaints from his lawyers concerning his health, as they seek to have him transferred from DSS custody to a government hospital.

There are also calls for his unconditional release, with several groups planning to stage a peaceful protest in Abuja on October 20.
Ahead of the protest, Kanunta shared a flyer announcing a fundraiser to cover Kanu’s medical and legal expenses.
He wrote, “Join Fundraising Event for MNK on October 18th 2025. Follow the link below.”
However, netizens have raised eyebrows, labelling the scheme as a familiar scam ran by members of IPOB in the recent past.
An X user, @InnocentCh28204, said, “Scammer, Sowore never called for fundraising, u don rush go create account with Kanu nta name to demand for money, and some people will still fall victim.”
