Recall that residents of the community had blocked a section of the Third Mainland Bridge to protest the demolition of buildings in Oworonshoki.

The aggrieved residents are said to be occupants of the unapproved buildings along the Iyana Oworosonki coastline.

These residents were also said to have been displaced following the demolition by the Lagos State government on Saturday.

The action by the residents caused a gridlock on the bridge leaving several road users and motorists stranded.

However, in a statement posted on X, the deputy public relations officer for the Lagos Police command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said there is relative calm in the area.

Oluseyi said normalcy returned to the bridge following the intervention of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh.

Oluseyi wrote on X, “Calm has been fully restored on the 3rd Mainland Bridge after the swift intervention of CP Olohundare Jimoh.

“The Lagos Police Commissioner personally visited the scene, ensured safety and order, and reopened the road. Traffic is now flowing smoothly,” he added.
