The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has held a strategic meeting with the Command’s Senior Police Officers, including Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
The meeting was designed to conduct a thorough review of recent operations, evaluate accomplishments, and establish new security templates for the Command. CP Adepoju highlighted the Command’s notable operational successes during the month under review, including:
The arrest of numerous suspects during continuous raids on suspected black spots across the State and for various offenses, the neutralization of two murder suspects, arrest of five suspected Kidnappers, five suspected cultists, the rescue of several kidnapped victims, the recovery of suspected stolen vehicles, three illegal arms and 49 rounds of ammunition.

CP Adepoju emphasized the importance of professionalism and discipline among Officers, cautioning against misconduct, including extortion, incivility to the public, unlawful/over detention of suspects, and illegal duties, escorting land grabbers. He stressed that adherence to professional standards is crucial for maintaining public trust and confidence and ensuring effective policing.
The session also featured
(i) Disciplinary Procedures/Processes for Senior Police Officers: The Lecture was delivered by the Deputy Commissioner of Police In-Charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Samuel Etaifo-Erale. The session aimed to reinforce the importance of accountability and strict adherence to professional standards in the Force.
(ii) Mental Health For Police Officers: This was delivered by Counsellor Rita Bassey, highlighting the critical role of mental well-being. It underscores the need for Officers to prioritize their health.
Both lectures were designed to provide Officers with valuable insights to deliver optimally.
During the meeting, the CP issued several key directives to Officers, including holding regular stakeholder meetings to understand community needs and concerns, enhancing Community Policing and intelligence-led Policing, intensifying visibility policing, training and retraining of Officers to build practical skills and address emerging security challenges.
CP commends the diligence bravery and dedication of Officers and Men of the Command, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to maintaining peace and security in Rivers State. He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to support Police operations and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or security agency.
