However, the absence of the former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike was noticeable, sparking speculations of a rift with the president. Sahara Media reported that the president ignored Nyesom Wike’s candidate.
The reports has been swiftly countered by Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the former governor of Rivers State on a recent post which was shared on his official X handle.
According to his statements, he pointed out that the former governor of Rivers State was not a member of the national council of state. He accused the founder of Sahara Media, Sowore of pushing propaganda.
The national council of states, according to the explanations provided by Lere Olayinka, were made up the president, former presidents, senate president, state governors amongst others. Ministers and former governors were not members of the council.
