The Independent National Electoral Commission has cleared eight political associations and disqualified six others in the ongoing registration process for new political parties.
The decision was taken after INEC’s regular meeting where it reviewed progress since its last update on September 11.
The process, which began on September 17 with a briefing session for pre-qualified associations, allowed interested groups to upload their documents through a dedicated portal between September 18 and October 18.
Out of the 14 associations earlier cleared to take part in the process, eight successfully completed all required submissions as of October 19.
