According to Muhammed, discussions to manage defection have been ongoing with the party, noting that the situation could have been worse.
Bala Mohammed added that some defections were politically motivated, as he advised those leaving the opposition party not to damage its reputation on their way out.
He said,“I assure you, I am not going anywhere. I am in the PDP, and my state has no element of division. As a leader of a group of equals, I cannot dictate the choices of my colleagues.
“But a lot of discussions are ongoing behind the scenes. The wave of defections could have been worse, but we are managing it.”
Meanwhile, Bala Mohammed has vowed that the party’s convention , slated for November 15 and 16, will hold irrespective of external forces.
The governor reaffirmed the party’s readiness to go ahead with the convention as planned.
He asserted that the PDP remains united, resilient, and determined to emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Bauchi State Governor urged party leaders to step up efforts to redefine the narrative, stressing that both party members and Nigerians in general have been enduring widespread hardship.
