Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) next week.
The development was confirmed on Friday, by APC National Chairman Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and Deputy National Chairman, South-East, Emma Eneukwu, during an event in Abuja.
The announcement came as the APC swore in the newly inaugurated members of its Enugu State caretaker committee, led by former state chairman Ben Nwoye, at the party’s national headquarters.

Nwoye said, “Governor Mbah will be joining the APC alongside all his appointees. This is a major boost for our party in Enugu State.”
Goshwe Yilwatda added, “We welcome Governor Mbah into the APC family. His experience and leadership will strengthen our vision for the South-East and the nation.”
Eneukwu also stated, “This is a historic moment for the party, and we look forward to working closely with Governor Mbah for progress in Enugu.”
Governor Mbah is expected to make his defection public at a formal event scheduled in Enugu State next week.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas may soon follow suit.
Reacting to the news, a PDP spokesperson said, “Defections cannot break the PDP. We remain united and committed to serving Nigerians.
“Our strength is in our people, not just officeholders.”
