The Convener of the League of Northern Democrats (LND) and one of the forces behind the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Dr Umar Ardo, has asked Nigerians to identify with the ADA, saying the grip on power by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a death sentence for Nigerians.
Ardo in a statement yesterday said the APC and the PDP have both failed Nigerians, stressing that the ADA is the only platform that genuinely means well and would salvage the country’s democracy.
reports that the ADA is one of the associations that recently scaled the first huddle of registration at the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside 13 others out of the 171 associations seeking registration as political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ardo explained that if registered, the ADA would be the rallying point for every patriotic Nigerian who still believes in truth, justice, service and sacrifice.
“The recycled politicians of APC, PDP and sundry have forfeited every moral right to lead this country. They have failed, and failed woefully. Their continued grip on power is a death sentence for Nigeria’s survival as a nation,” he said.
“But a new dawn is possible if the patriotic elites, men and women, and the Nigerian youths, unite under one banner, the ADA banner! Together, we can birth a political renaissance rooted in justice, sacrifice, innovation, unity and service. And together, we can pull our people out of the kilter, restore trust in governance and rebuild the moral fabric of our nation.
“This is our chance to salvage democracy and rebuild Nigeria. And we call on all patriots to join forces with us under the ADA platform not just to rescue the country but to also help her thrive,” he added.
ADA dead on arrival – APC
But reacting in a telephone interview, the APC National Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, said the ADA is dead on arrival, stressing that if registered, it can’t win any seat in the 2027 general elections.
Ibrahim said, “ADA is dead on arrival. It can’t win even a ward in an election, let alone winning at the state or national level. These are Nigerians who have tried different parties and they have been rejected. Now, they have come under a new arrangement.
“In fact, Ardo, even his god-father who has been moving from one party to another, is a So Nigerians wouldn’t want to go through that kind of experiment.”
But efforts to get PDP reaction proved abortive as party officials neither answered their phone calls nor replied to messages sent to them.
