Hon. Ikenna Azomchine, the SouthEast coordinator of the Obidients movement, has voiced strong opposition to any potential political arrangement that would see Peter Obi serve as running mate to Atiku Abubakar in future elections.
During an interview on Trust TV from 39:49, Azomchine warned that such a political alliance could face significant resistance from Obi’s supporters.
“To talk about an Obi-Atiku ticket—first of all, Obi has to tread with caution. Will Obidients accept him being vice to Atiku? If you ask me, I will say Tinubu should remain in the villa instead of that,” Azomchine declared.

Drawing on his extensive experience in party politics, the political activist explained his position. “Why? Because I know that—I was PDP chairman in Belgium from 2001 till date. I knew all the gimmicks in the zoning formulas. So nobody will educate me about the zoning formula in the PDP and what happened to Obi not getting the ticket in the first place in 2023,” he stated.
Azomchine issued an ultimatum regarding future electoral arrangements, saying, “If you ask me today: If Atiku does not step down and allow Obi to give the president a run for whatever he has, then Tinubu should remain in the villa. Even me, I’ll support him.”
The remarks highlight potential tensions within opposition ranks regarding leadership hierarchy and strategy for upcoming elections, with Azomchine making clear that Obidients would prefer the current administration to continue rather than accept a subordinate position for their preferred candidate.
