Primate Elijah Ayodele, founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has sounded a prophetic caution regarding Professor Joash Amupitan, the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a message shared via Facebook, the popular cleric stated that God revealed three warnings to him concerning Amupitan’s tenure. He predicted that the new INEC boss will encounter major challenges and be surrounded by controversy. “People will call him a controversial man; the opposition will attack and insult him. He must be ready for this,” Ayodele warned.

The cleric urged Professor Amupitan to seek divine direction and spiritual strength to avoid succumbing to the immense pressure that may arise during his leadership, emphasizing that his faith and perseverance will determine how long he remains in office.
Professor Amupitan, born in 1967 in Ayetoro Gbede, Kogi State, was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed Mahmood Yakubu as INEC chairman. His nomination has already been confirmed by the National Council of State. A distinguished academic and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he teaches law at the University of Jos and is an expert in Corporate Governance, Company Law, and Privatization Law.
Ayodele’s prophecy arrives at a critical moment as Amupitan assumes office amidst mounting calls for electoral reform and greater transparency. The cleric advised him to stay focused, prayerful, and resolute, describing the upcoming period as “a spiritually and politically demanding journey” for Nigeria’s electoral system.
