Chioma Ifemeludike, the AAC governorship candidate in the just concluded Anambra gubernatorial election, has stated that she witnessed open vote buying at a polling unit on election day.
In an interview with TVC, Ifemeludike said she visited one of the wards and observed that some people were paying voters to vote for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). She stated that the individuals involved did not recognize her because she did not arrive with a convoy or an entourage.
Ifemeludike said they even attempted to pay her as well. She stated that they offered her 3,000 naira to vote for APGA, not knowing she was the governorship candidate of ADC. She said they approached her and told her that after voting she should come to a particular spot to collect the money.
In Ifemeludike’s words: “I have evidence, they actually wanted to pay me for vote because they did not know me. I walked into one of the wards, they couldn’t identify me because I did not walk in with convoy or entourage so they did not know I was a candidate. They approached me and said, ‘When you vote, walk over here and get paid’” Read Original
