The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed a list of its state chairmen nationwide.

In a statement on Sunday, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC national publicity secretary, described the report as “fake news” aimed at sowing confusion and misleading the public.

He said INEC had neither issued nor validated any such list, officially or unofficially.

Part of the statement read: “The process of constituting and ratifying state leadership within any political party lies squarely within the party’s constitutional prerogative.

“INEC only recognises what the party submits through the appropriate channels after due process. As of today, no such comprehensive list has been submitted or confirmed by INEC.”

The party urged members to remain calm and guided only by official communication from its national leadership.

“The public is advised to disregard the fake list in circulation. Any authentic update regarding party structure will be communicated via our verified channels,” Abdullahi added.
