    More Than 4.4m Nigerians Sign Up for Voter Registration in Four Weeks

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 4,445,505 Nigerians have pre-registered online within four weeks of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

    Sam Olumekun, national commissioner and chairman of the information and voter education committee, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

    Olumekun said the figure was as of Sunday, September 14, 2025.
    According to the breakdown, 2,141,294 (48.17 percent) are male while 2,304,211 (51.83 percent) are female.

    The statement noted that students are leading the chart, with 1,112,344 (25.02 percent) registering, while 2,924,643 (65.79 percent) fall between the ages of 18 and 34.

    On completed registration, the commission said the combined online and physical registration stood at 509,929 as of Friday.

    Out of this, 229,758 (45.06 percent) are male, while 280,171 (54.94 percent) are female.

    In terms of age, 378,132 (74.15 percent) are between 18 and 34, while 196,529 (38.54 percent) are students.

    Olumekun said the detailed distribution by state, gender, age, occupation and disability has been uploaded on INEC’s website and other official platforms.

    On the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the commission said online pre-registration ended on Monday, September 15, 2025.

    It added that the physical registration option will continue for two weeks at designated venues before being devolved to all 62 wards in the FCT between September 29 and October 8.
