In an interview with The Sun on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Dr. AbdurRahman Usman, a key member of the Peoples Democratic Institute and a PDP stalwart in Kaduna State, has stated that Nigeria’s current political climate is pushing the country toward a united opposition movement.
He explained that with the rising insecurity, economic difficulties, and public dissatisfaction, several parties are already exploring new alliances that could shape the next political phase.
Speaking on the possibility of a broad coalition similar to what happened during the Second Republic, Dr. Usman said the situation in the country has made cooperation among parties more urgent than ever.
He noted that discussions are already ongoing among parties such as the PDP, ADC, NNPP, LP and others, and these talks may grow into a stronger and more organised political force.
Dr. Usman stressed that the focus should not be on party labels, but on a shared mission to rescue the country from further decline.
He stated that Nigerians across political lines must prioritise the nation’s future over partisan interests.
According to him, the task before the country now goes beyond the traditional rivalry between parties.
He argued that the central objective for many citizens and political actors is to bring an end to the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu.
He said the President has less than 600 days left in office, and Nigerians must use this period to join efforts aimed at ensuring a different direction for the country.
Dr. Usman added that the responsibility to achieve real change does not rest on one party alone.
He insisted that members of the APC, PDP, ADC, NNPP, APGA, LP, and SDP must see themselves as part of a national project to rebuild Nigeria.
“As far as I’m concerned, the mission before Nigerians, regardless of party affiliation, whether APC, PDP, ADC, NNPP, APGA, LP, or SDP is to flush out Tinubu,” he said. Read Original
