Nigerian actress Wahab Omowunmi, popularly known as WisecrackingOfNaomi, has spoken openly about the growing rate of single motherhood and the changing realities of marriage. She made the remarks during an interview on Oyinmomo TV on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
During the conversation, Naomi reflected on how social and cultural shifts have contributed to a world where single mothers are increasingly prominent. She explained that the rising instability in relationships has made long-lasting marriages less common, noting that even couples who have stayed together for decades cannot always consider their unions permanently secure.
She pointed out that factors such as conflict, infidelity, misunderstandings and emotional incompatibility continue to threaten many homes. Naomi added that issues that were once quietly managed within marriages including dissatisfaction with intimacy or unmet expectations now surface more easily, especially with the influence of social media, which exposes private matters to public scrutiny. According to her, this new level of visibility has made it harder for many couples to maintain stability, ultimately contributing to more broken homes and the rise of single-parent families.
She said; “Single mothers have dominated the world. Anyone who still has their wife till old age, they should thank God. For those whose marriage are 20 years or more, it is not yet guaranteed. Marriage can crack at any time. A little thing can cause violence, misunderstanding, cheating, others. Women who used to manage the size, time, duration of their men could not last anymore.
