In a recent interview on, political analyst Chris Maduka responded sharply to comments attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, regarding former President Goodluck Jonathan’s political future.
Maduka, who appeared visibly displeased with Wike’s posture towards the former president, said it was both disrespectful and politically arrogant for the FCT Minister to expect Jonathan to seek his approval before taking any political decision ahead of 2027.
Quoting his words, Maduka said, “Goodluck Jonathan cannot seek permission from you.”

He went on to remind Wike of how he rose to prominence through the goodwill and support of the same people he now speaks condescendingly about. According to Maduka, “We all saw the viral video where Goodluck and Patience Jonathan took you by the hand and handed you over to your political godfather, who made you governor. From there you rose to national prominence, and now you want the same man who lifted you to come and take permission from you? That’s not how loyalty works.”
Maduka emphasized that Wike’s growing defiance and confrontational attitude have become a major source of instability within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said the party’s silence over Wike’s behavior shows weakness and a lack of discipline, adding that the former governor has “overreached himself politically.”
The analyst further described the ongoing tension between Wike and the PDP as “a political tango of deceit,” noting that both sides continue to pretend while the party’s structure suffers. He stressed that the situation could have been avoided if party elders had mustered the courage to confront Wike early on.
Maduka, however, called for restraint and humility, urging Wike to retrace his steps and respect those who paved the way for his political success. “No matter how high you climb,” he said, “you must never forget those who helped you rise. That’s the true test of character.”
He concluded by warning that continued arrogance and public confrontation with political mentors could spell disaster for Wike’s future ambitions, saying, “Power is transient. When gratitude is replaced with pride, downfall is never far behind.”,,
