The People’s Democratic Party has suffered a major setback as hundreds of its members in Okeogun have dumped the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exodus of these members, particularly in Iseyin local government where the latest wave of defection occurred, follows the decision of one of the party’s strongest grassroots mobilizers, Senator Hosea Agboola Alleluyah to dump the party.
During the latest wave of defection, members cited various factors for leaving the party ranging from its poor reward system to their continued marginalization.

Speaking while announcing their defection, the former members of the party noted that they are following their leader Alleluyah and are ready to move to another party with him.
They contrasted Alleluyah to Makinde, describing the former Senator as a selfless leader who ensures that his members receive the dividend of democracy.
“Anyone who is blessed will always be followed by the blessings everywhere he goes. When PDP lost in the entire southwest, our leader, Senator Hosea Agboola Alleluyah was the only one that emerged as a Senator in the entire Southwest. He is blessed and intelligient.
He’s a leader who leaves his own to attend to other people’s matter. If you meet him, you’ll always get something. So why won’t we follow him?,” one of the exiting PDP members explained at the event where they announced their defection.
