Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has recalled how his administration confronted insecurity in the state, saying the experience places him ahead of other aspirants seeking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking in a video clip shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, Amaechi said Port Harcourt, the state capital, had been crippled by violent crimes before his government took charge.
“I served as a governor in a state where people were being killed and being kidnapped. Robbery was on the increase, people couldn’t go out in Port Harcourt,” he said.

Naija News reports that the former governor narrated how his administration restored normalcy within a short period, reviving economic and social activities in the state.
“Parties weren’t going on and hospitals were in crisis. The only source of entertainment to men was their wives, but in six months after we came in, we chased away the criminals. We called people to go back to work and parties and asked them to do whatever they wanted to do,” Amaechi said.
Amaechi stressed that his record in Rivers State has prepared him for national leadership, arguing that the current challenges facing Nigeria are not new to him.
“So I am the only aspirant of the party that does not only come with experience but has served in a state where what is facing us now has faced us,” he declared.
The former governor maintained that his practical knowledge of managing crises gives him an edge as he vies for the ADC’s presidential ticket.
