In a fiery declaration that has deepened the ongoing schism within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, Comrade Shehu Yohanna Kambile, the party’s embattled state chairman, has reaffirmed his legitimacy and announced plans to seek judicial intervention against what he describes as a “witch-hunt” orchestrated by rivals.
Kambile, a Christian activist and self-proclaimed “son of nobody,” accused his detractors of bias rooted in religious and social prejudices, insisting that his tenure remains intact until December 2026.
”I am the authentic, substantive, and genuine ADC Party Chairman for Adamawa State,” Kambile stated in a exclusive interview with Tgnews on Sunday morning, vowing to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, God willing.

The outburst comes amid a protracted leadership tussle that has pitted Kambile against a rival faction led by Mall Saidu Komsiri, with both sides claiming rightful control of the party’s machinery.
The conflict, which erupted earlier this year following a wave of high-profile defections to the ADC including; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani, and ex-Governor Jibrilla Bindow has seen accusations of fraud, unauthorized committees, and fifth-columnist interference fly between the groups.
Kambile’s faction, which enjoys backing from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has dismissed recent reconciliation efforts by the national leadership as illegitimate.
In September, his executives disowned a four-man committee headed by retired Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka, labeling it “fraudulent” and unauthorized. The move drew sharp rebukes from stakeholders like Comrade Umar Yakubu, who accused Kambile’s group of “desperation” and fear of accountability.
INEC’s July affirmation of Kambile as the duly elected chairman based on a January 2024 notification from the national party has bolstered his position. Party stalwart Usman Jada, known as “Calculate,” echoed this in July, attributing the rift to “fifth columnists” exploiting the ADC’s rising profile for personal gain.
Under Kambile’s watch, the party has seen a surge in membership, including mass defections from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in August, driven by economic frustrations.
Yet, tensions persist. A coalition of ADC youths called for Kambile’s executive dissolution in early October, citing internal disarray. Kambile fired back, dismissing the agitators as “reckless youths” sponsored by disgruntled ex-members.
The factional divide has also spilled into ward-level registration drives, with Kambile issuing ultimatums to big-name defectors like Atiku to obtain membership cards or risk exclusion.
Adding intrigue, a recently circulated list of an “Interim ADC Leadership” for Adamawa naming Mall Saidu Komsiri as chairman and bearing the party’s logo—appears to stem from the rival camp, potentially fueling Kambile’s court push.
Observers speculate this document, dated around mid-October, represents a bid to supplant Kambile’s structure ahead of the 2027 elections, where the ADC is positioning itself as a coalition powerhouse.
As Kambile heads to Abuja, the eyes of Adamawa’s political class and the nation are on the Federal High Court. For now, the comrade’s defiant stand underscores a deeper narrative: in Nigeria’s fractious opposition landscape, faith, pedigree, and power often collide with brutal force.
