A former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, has called for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
According to a letter shared by human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore on , Wabara expressed full support for the campaign calling for the release of Kanu.
The former lawmaker commended Sowore for the march scheduled for October 20th but expressed regret that he would not join in the activity because he is currently out of the country on a medical trip.
The letter read, “I have been informed about the planned protest on the 20th of October, calling for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. I wish to commend your efforts and those of others who continue to speak up for justice and fairness in our country.

Naija News reports that Sowore had urged South-East governors, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to join the planned demonstration for Kanu’s release
He disclosed that he had contacted several prominent Igbo leaders, including Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to join the movement.
