Two pastors from different Christian denominations have passed away within a day, leaving members of the Catholic and ECWA churches mourning deeply.
In Ekiti State, the Catholic Diocese announced the death of its Bishop Emeritus, Most Rev. Michael Olatunji Fagun, who died late on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the age of 90.
The Diocese described his passing as a peaceful transition after years of tireless service to God and humanity.
Born on April 17, 1935, Bishop Fagun was ordained in 1965 and became a bishop in 1971.

He was the first to lead the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti and was known for building strong spiritual foundations that shaped the growth of Catholicism in the region.
The Diocese expressed gratitude for his lifetime of dedication and urged members to pray for the repose of his soul and comfort for his family. Funeral details are expected to be released later.
In another tragic development, the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) confirmed the death of one of its pastors, Rev. Anthony Lamba, who was kidnapped in Southern Kaduna on July 24, 2025.
He was abducted alongside his wife while working on their farm.
Although his wife regained her freedom after a ransom was paid, the pastor remained in captivity, where he reportedly fell ill and died before he could be released.
A memorial service for Rev. Lamba will take place in his hometown, Kallah, on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
This follows the death of renowned evangelist Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai who died on Monday, October 6.
