The self-styled Defence Group Difa Al-Watan, a signatory to the Miski Agreement, on Sunday handed over a cache of arms and mines to the Chadian Armed Forces in Modra, Tibesti Province.
The weapons were received by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud, as part of the ongoing implementation of the peace accord signed earlier this year.
According to officials, the handover marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to consolidate peace and stability in northern Chad, where rebel and self-defence groups have been active.

Gen. Daoud commended the gesture, describing it as “a concrete demonstration of commitment to peace,” while reiterating the government’s determination to fully implement the Miski Agreement.
Community leaders in Tibesti welcomed the move, expressing optimism that it would pave the way for reconciliation and socio-economic development in the region.
The Miski Agreement, reached after months of dialogue, provides for disarmament, reintegration of combatants, and development initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace in Tibesti.
