High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, a respected elder statesman of the Niger Delta and former spokesperson of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has recounted his role in attempting to resolve political differences between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his political godfather, former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike. He described taking personal steps to ensure the dispute did not escalate and compromise the state’s resources.
Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Sara-Igbe said he directly intervened, calling on both leaders to meet privately and settle their disagreements without involving any third parties. He emphasized that allowing outsiders into their dispute could have created opportunities for mismanagement of state resources and stalled developmental projects in Rivers.

According to Sara-Igbe, his mediation strategy was straightforward, he urged Fubara to return to Wike and have both leaders “lock themselves in a room” to resolve their differences. He stressed that the people of Rivers would respect and comply with the outcome once the dispute was amicably settled.
“I also called on Fubara to say, ‘go back to your Oga,’ both of you should lock yourselves, you don’t need any third party. When you resolve your differences, you tell us and we will obey,” Sara-Igbe said.
The Niger Delta elder explained that his actions were motivated by concern for the state’s welfare during the tense period following the six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu.
